The idols of FC Bayern pose in the annual Lederhosen team photo. However, two players are missing from the picture.

Munich – Two events are known to be taking place towards the end of August: the Bundesliga will resume operations and FC Bayern Munich will organize its traditional Lederhosen shooting. This year, about three weeks before the world-famous Oktoberfest, it will remain the same.

The reigning champions have once again been dressed in traditional clothing. The usual team photo was taken at sponsor Paulaner in traditional costume and with wheat beer – non-alcoholic for the professionals, of course.

In the past, these events have often resulted in humorous photos. The 2024 shoot also has a few stories to tell. One of them is about two players who were not there.

FC Bayern Oktoberfest photo: Can you guess which two stars are missing here?

Last season, it was top new signing Harry Kane, who was in England for the birth of his fourth child. This year, Kane is there and – probably not by chance – is the absolute focus of the team photo. A symbolic positioning. Kane is the linchpin at FC Bayern.

However, Josip Stanisic is not in the photo. The only Bayern star who won the German championship and cup last season was injured after returning from Bayer Leverkusen and had to undergo surgery. Bayern did not give a specific reason why Stanisic was absent from the photo shoot. However, there is a possibility that there is a connection between his injury and the subsequent rehab. It is similar with Hiroki Ito – he is also currently injured and cannot be seen in the photos. This means that two FC Bayern players missed the Lederhosen event.

Of all people, a native of Munich has to pass on the Lederhosen photo of FC Bayern

Stanisic could be more annoyed about the missed shot than other stars in the squad. After all, the defender is a native of Munich and probably knows the Lederhosen and Oktoberfest better than many others in the current team. His career began at FC Perlach in the southeast of Munich, when he moved to TSV 1860 at the age of nine. Six years later, he joined the youth department of SC Fürstenfeldbruck before moving to the big FC Bayern in 2017. He had a tough time there, and a loan to Leverkusen was supposed to give him match practice in 2023. He succeeded – and even won two titles.

Now the 24-year-old, now a Croatian national player, is back in Munich. A torn lateral ligament has put him out of action at the moment. But perhaps Stanisic will be seen in traditional costume when FC Bayern visits the Oktoberfest – the Munich team traditionally shows up together in large groups at the end of September. (akl)
