Wuppertal (dpa) – At a wedding reception in Wuppertal, five police officers were slightly injured by punches, kicks and bites from guests. The police said they were called to the reception on Saturday evening because a fight had broken out among guests. According to initial findings, several people had attacked each other with glasses and bottles, among other things.
When the police arrived, the officers were attacked, said a spokesman. A guest then pulled out a kitchen knife, but no one was injured. The man pulled out the knife and then fell to the ground. The attackers were stopped by using teasers and batons.
The police took three men aged between 22 and 24 into custody, who resisted arrest and continued to attack the officers. The police also took the personal details of 40 guests and stated the location. The five injured officers were able to continue their duties. The WDR had previously reported.
