Kremlin: There is “no clarity” on strike in which Reuters team member died

The Kremlin said on Monday that there was “still no clarity” about Saturday's rocket attack that killed a member of a Reuters team staying at a hotel in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine.

“There is still no clarity,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's claim that the attack was carried out “deliberately.”

“I say it again. The attacks are directed against military infrastructure targets or targets related to military infrastructure,” Peskov said.

A security consultant working for Reuters was killed and two of his journalists were injured in the attack on the Sapphire Hotel, the global news agency reported.

Reuters said it was “devastated” by the loss. A total of six members of the team covering the conflict were staying at the hotel that was hit.

The town is located about 20 kilometers from the front line and fears for it are growing as Russian forces continue to advance into eastern Ukraine.
