Liverpool close to first summer transfer after signing contract – report

Liverpool have signed a contract to Sign Reports have confirmed this: Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Mamardashvili, 23, was one of Georgia's standout goalkeepers at Euro 2024 and emerged as Liverpool's preferred long-term replacement for current Anfield favourite Alisson earlier this summer.

In an open interview with The timesAlisson recently admitted that he agreed with Liverpool's decision to sign Mamardashvili.

“The club has to prepare for the future,” he said. “We won't stay here forever, I'm getting old! No, I'm still young for a goalkeeper, I have a lot of energy and I still have a lot to give to this club and I want to give the club as much as I can.”

“They will do it for other positions as well. We have so many important players whose contracts are expiring and the club needs to organize itself for the future.”

“I think it was a good idea. I knew about it [Mamardashvili] before it came out on social media and that's a good message for me because the club cares about what I think. They're doing the right thing but as far as I'm concerned, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I'm happy here, the club is happy with me and my family is happy here, I'm going to stay.”
