Mettlach – (Video at the end of the article) Late in the evening of this Sunday, September 1st, 2024, a serious accident occurred in Mettlach in which a cyclist was seriously injured. At around 7:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the B51 near “Auf der Hardt”.
According to initial information, the cyclist suffered a serious fall when he was hit by a van. However, this information is based on eyewitness reports and has not yet been confirmed by the police. A video shows the Christoph 16 rescue helicopter landing at the scene of the accident to take the last person to a hospital as quickly as possible.
The right lane of the B51 was completely closed to record the accident, which led to significant traffic disruptions. Drivers reported waiting times of over 45 minutes.
