2 accused of hate crimes on Saturday: Ramapo police

MONTEBELLO, NY – A UPS driver was attacked in Montebello Saturday afternoon, and Ramapo police charged two men, including a Clarkstown resident, with hate crimes, attempted robbery and assault.

Police said the man was in his van on Spook Rock Road at 4:15 p.m. and was hit by a water bottle that was thrown at him. Two people then physically assaulted him while yelling racial slurs at him and trying to steal his van keys, police said.

Yitzchok Zucker, 31, of New City was charged with attempted second-degree robbery as a hate crime and attempted second-degree assault as a hate crime, Ramapo police said.

Moshe Pepper, a 31-year-old from Mad River, California, was charged with attempted second-degree robbery as a hate crime, attempted second-degree assault as a hate crime, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree harassment, Ramapo police said.
