Month for TV fans: “Monster” and Co.: The series highlights in September

September has a whole series of amazing premieres in store for users of the major streaming platforms. Here is an overview of the top series on Netflix, Disney+ and Sky.

September is a highlight for series fans: Two new superhero formats are being launched, “Dahmer – Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer” continues and the current season of “Emily in Paris” comes to an end…

New on Netflix from September 12th: “Emily in Paris”

Netflix has changed its release strategy and given its top series such as “Bridgerton,” “Stranger Things” and “You” a new concept. Instead of making all episodes of a season available at the same time, they are now released in two parts.

This also applies to the Netflix hit “Emily in Paris”. The second part of the fourth season has five episodes and will be available on Netflix on September 12th. Fans can look forward to seeing what happens next with Emily (Lily Collins, 35) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo, 36). They can also experience Paris in winter and Emily's trip to Rome.

A fifth season of “Emily in Paris” seems to already be planned, although Netflix has yet to make an official confirmation.

“Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”: On Netflix from September 19th

The true crime series “Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”, released in 2022, was originally planned as a miniseries. But thanks to the considerable success of the show led by Evan Peters (37), Netflix commissioned a second season that revolves around another murder case.

“Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is about the case of the brothers Erik (Cooper Koch, 28) and Lyle Menendez (Alexander Chavez), who murdered their parents (Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny) in Beverly Hills in 1989. To justify this act, the brothers claimed that they had been abused by their father for years. The two brothers are still in prison today.

The series “Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” was again produced by Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story,” “Ratched,” “The Watcher,” 58). Netflix has already ordered a third season of its anthology series “Monster.”

From September 19th on Disney+: “Agatha All Along”

The new Marvel Studios series “Agatha All Along” is celebrating its premiere. It is the eleventh streaming title in the Marvel universe. The main roles in the series, which is a spin-off of the first MCU show “WandaVision” of 2021, are played by Kathryn Hahn (51).

In “WandaVision,” Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen, 35) had to stand up to Agatha (Hahn). After a tough fight, she finally won and took away Agatha's magical powers. Agatha was also trapped in her “Agnes” role. In “Agatha All Along,” Agatha is finally able to free herself from this spell. Accompanied by a young person (Joe Locke, 20), she sets off on a journey to regain her powers.

Other roles in the series are played by “The White Lotus” star Aubrey Plaza (40), Debra Jo Rupp (73), known from “WandaVision”, and Sasheer Zamata (“Saturday Night Live”, 38). The first two episodes of “Agatha All Along” will air on September 19 on Disney+. The remaining seven episodes will be released at regular intervals.

“The Penguin”: On Sky and Wow from September 20th

In the dark DC remake “The Penguin,” Colin Farrell (48) returns in his popular role as Batman villain Oz Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin. This character was already introduced as the Dark Knight in the movie “The Batman” with Robert Pattinson (38) and is now getting his own, high-quality spin-off from HBO.

After the death of gangster boss Carmine Falcone, ambitious criminal Cobblepot tries to take control of Gotham City's underworld in this tough gangster series. In doing so, he has to deal with Falcone's psychopathic daughter Sofia, among others. Sofia, who has just been released from the notorious Arkham Asylum, is played by Cristin Milioti (39), known from “Black Mirror”, and is likely to pose a great challenge for the protagonist.

In addition to the actors mentioned, Michael Kelly (55), known from “House of Cards”, and screen icon Clancy Brown (“Starship Troopers”, 65) also appear in “The Penguin”. The eight episodes of the miniseries will be broadcast weekly on Sky and Wow.
