Preliminary final result Thuringia: Höcke in the state parliament after all

Erfurt – Thuringia's AfD state leader Björn Höcke has finally made it into the state parliament. According to the preliminary final result, the AfD in Thuringia won 30 constituencies directly and is entitled to a total of 32 seats. Höcke did not win his constituency directly, but is number one on the state list.

In detail, the preliminary final result looks like this: The AfD is the strongest force with 32.8 percent, followed by the CDU (23.6 percent), BSW (15.8 percent) and the Left (13.1 percent), the SPD only reaches 6.1 percent.

The Greens were eliminated from the state parliament with 3.2 percent, as was the FDP, which only received 1.1 percent. This puts it even behind the Free Voters (1.3 percent) and just ahead of the “Tierschutz hier” party with 1.0 percent.

The new Thuringian state parliament has 88 seats. Of these, 32 are for the AfD, 23 for the CDU, 15 for the BSW, 12 for the Left and 6 for the SPD. The majority of 45 seats can only be achieved without the AfD with a coalition of the CDU, BSW and the Left.

Voter turnout is 73.6 percent.
