The Lederhosen shoot is a traditional event in FC Bayern's annual schedule. However, two players are not represented in the latest team photo.

Munich – Two things are certain at the end of August: The Bundesliga is picking up speed again. And FC Bayern Munich is inviting people to its traditional Lederhosen photo shoot. This is the case again this year, around three weeks before the world-famous Oktoberfest.

The record champions have now dressed up again. At sponsor Paulaner, the traditional team photo was taken in traditional costume and with wheat beer – the non-alcoholic version for the professionals, of course.

In the past, these events have resulted in some humorous photos. And the shoot in 2024 also has a few stories to tell. One of them is about a player who wasn't even there.

Lederhosen shooting at FC Bayern: Of all people, a native of Munich is missing

Last season, the top new signing was Harry Kane, who was in his homeland England for the birth of his fourth child. This year, Kane is there and is – probably not entirely unintentionally – in the absolute center of the team photo. A positioning with symbolic power. Kane is the focal point at FC Bayern.

Josip Stanisic, however, is not in the picture. The only Bayern star who won the German championship and cup last season was injured after returning from loan from Bayer Leverkusen and subsequently had to undergo surgery. Bayern did not give a specific reason why Stanisic was absent from the photo shoot. However, it is likely to have something to do with the injury and the subsequent rehab. The same is likely to be true for Hiroki Ito – he is also currently suffering from an injury and cannot be seen in the photos.

Stanisic may be even more annoyed about the missed appointment than other stars in the squad. After all, the defender was born in Munich and is probably one of the best players in the team to know the Lederhosen and Oktoberfest. He began his career at FC Perlach in the southeast of Munich, then moved to TSV 1860 at the age of nine. Six years later, he joined the youth department of SC Fürstenfeldbruck before moving to the big FC Bayern in 2017. The defender had a tough time there, and a loan to Leverkusen was supposed to give him match practice in 2023. He got that – and even two titles.

Now the 24-year-old, who has been Croatia's longest-serving national player, is back in Munich. A torn lateral ligament has put him out of action. Perhaps Stanisic will be seen in traditional costume when FC Bayern Munich visits the Oktoberfest – traditionally, the people of Munich go to the Oktoberfest together in large groups at the end of September.
