Although ZDF generally prohibits hidden advertising and usually ensures that no advertising is shown before the shows, a logo was overlooked in the “Fernsehgarten”.

Mainz – On Sunday (September 1st) viewers could look forward to a new episode of the “ZDF-Fernsehgarten”. However, one detail in the show caused confusion: A guest wore a cap with the logo of a well-known company, although ZDF has strictly forbidden hidden advertising.

“ZDF-Fernsehgarten” guest Chris Böhm appeared with an advertising cap

On the large “Fernsehgarten” stage, presenter Andrea Kiewel (59) welcomed many guests who were supposed to create a good atmosphere among the audience. One of these guests was Chris Böhm (41). The BMX rider wanted to set a world record in the popular entertainment show: he wanted to make at least 36 revolutions on the front wheel of his bike within a minute. In the end, Böhm even managed 54, which made him the world record holder again.

The outfit that Chris Böhm wore during his appearance on “ZDF-Fernsehgarten” may have raised some questions: The 41-year-old wore a baseball cap with the logo of the well-known burger chain “Peter Pane”.

Andrea Kiewel lost her job because of a violation: According to ZDF guidelines, surreptitious advertising is prohibited

This is officially considered surreptitious advertising – and that is normally absolutely taboo at ZDF. “Surreptitious advertising, topic placement and corresponding practices are not permitted,” the broadcaster's official advertising guidelines state. But Andrea Kiewel is not innocent either: she has already ignored this rule several times. In 2007, ZDF even parted ways with the popular presenter for two years.

ZDF has actually strictly forbidden hidden advertising and always covers up advertisements before shows. But a logo was unveiled for the popular “Fernsehgarten”.

Recently, another guest in the popular entertainment show caused a stir: Bülent Ceylan (48) made an inappropriate comment about refugees in the “ZDF-Fernsehgarten”. Sources used: “ZDF-Fernsehgarten” (edition of 1 September), ZDF advertising guidelines
