The second round of the DFB Cup will be drawn on Sunday evening. Some explosive duels are possible. The live ticker for the draw.

Update, 5.26pm: The trigger is over and has certainly given rise to some interesting games. Record champions Bayern Munich have to play against FSV Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund are playing against VfL Wolfsburg. Neither of these is a sure thing. Defending champions Bayer Leverkusen were lucky in the draw and will face second division side Elversberg.

Update from September 1st, 5:00 p.m.: The release ceremony in Dortmund began in just under ten minutes. A little later, clubs and fans will know who they will be playing against in the second main round of the DFB Cup.

Initial report: Dortmund – Before club football takes its first break of the young season and the players travel to their national teams, the focus is initially on the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The draw for the second round of the 2024/25 DFB Cup will take place there on Sunday from 5.10 p.m.

Three lower-class teams are still in the 2nd round of DFB Cup included

The second round of the DFB Cup will take place on October 29th and 30th. The exact scheduling of the individual teams will take place after the draw. This will also determine which games will be shown on free TV. The final of the DFB Cup will take place on May 24th, 2025 in Berlin's Olympic Stadium.

ZDF will broadcast the DFB Cup draw live from the football museum in Dortmund. Sonja Greinacher, Olympic champion in 3×3 basketball, will be the draw fairy. All winners of the first round of the DFB Cup qualify for the second main round. The clubs below the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga automatically have home advantage.

There were no major surprises in the first round this season. Only one Bundesliga team, VfL Bochum, was eliminated. Of the clubs from the third division downwards, Arminia Bielefeld (third division), Dynamo Dresden (third division) and Kickers Offenbach (Regionalliga Südwest) are still in the competition.
