A man's death following an attempted robbery in Dededo has been ruled a homicide.

At approximately 3:08 a.m. Monday morning, officers from the Guam Police Department's Dededo District responded to a reported shooting incident at Dededo that resulted in two men being hospitalized. One of the men suffered a gunshot wound and the other suffered an eye injury.

Later Monday, GPD confirmed that the man, who suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, was pronounced dead at Guam Regional Medical City.

On Tuesday afternoon, GPD spokesman Officer Berlyn Savella provided more details about the incident, saying detectives had opened a death investigation responding “to the scene of a reported robbery at a residence in Dededo,” where the man was shot in the stomach.

Savella added that an autopsy of the man was scheduled for Tuesday morning by Chief Medical Examiner Dr.

“The case remains under active investigation and investigators are working to identify the man who was pronounced dead,” Savella added.
